Amanah

Amanah means Honest in Arabic language but the meaning of Amanah in term of Islam is wider than Honest. It concerns about ethic, moral, and characteristic of Muslim as well. Ahmanah is not only among human but we have to do Amanah for the god Allah. Sometimes you do Amanah for Human but it is opposite the command of god. So it can’t be Amanah in Islam. Therefore, we have to study the meaning of Amanah from Quran and Hadith of prophet Muhamad Peace be upon him to get the right meaning of it. Amanah can be divided to five categories that is:

1. Amanah to Allah

This is the first of Amanah that we have to do it. If we don’t have this Amanah, we can’t be Muamin. We have to always thing that we are weakness creature. We have to bow of the god will as Allah commanded in verse Al-nisah 131

“And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And verily, We have recommended to the people of the Scripture before you, and to you ( O Muslims) that you (all) fear Allah, and keep your duty to Him. But if you disbelieve, then unto Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and Allah is ever rich (free of all wants), worthy of all praise.”

Amanah to Allah that we have to reserve and do it. There are 3 parts.
1. Amanah of Faith that is we have to believe in pillars of Iman from Quran and Hadith. We can’t create a new thing that it doesn’t come from both Quran and Hadith.
2. Amanah of Ibadah compulsory ( Fatdu) We can’t abandon to do it or ignore. For example pray, Zakat, Haji, fast.
3. Amanah to mark Sunnah. Although it is not compulsory to do it but we should do it. We can’t refuse it. If we do so, it mean you refuse the command of god as Prophet said that

مَن رَغِبَ عَنْ سُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي
"Whoever abandon the way of me. They are not my Umah."

2. Amanah to Prophet

No one are good leader accept Prophet Mohammad who guides us to the right way of life as Allah said that:

“And verily, you (O Muhammad) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path (i.e. Allah’s Religion of Islamic Monotheism). (อัชชูรอ 52-53)

Duty that Muslim has to do for the Prophet can be divided to three ways as follow:
We have to lean Hadith and collect the hadith that was accepted by Ulamah. And we have to use Hadith saheh and we can’t use hadith daaf (weakness report) as Prophet Muhamad said:

مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّداً فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّار
"Whoever lie and said that it comes from rasul, the hell is for him"

We have to glorify the prophet according to surah Al-Fath: 9

”In order that you (O mankind) may believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that you assist and honour him, and (that you) glorify (Allah,s) praises morning and afternoon.”

3. We have to conserve, spread, and defend the model way of Prophet seriously.

3. Amanah to religion.

For those who are Muslim have to spread and support Islam. We can’t abandon it definitely. Allah gives us this amanah. Whenever we refuse it and ignore it at the behind. Allah will change and give this duty to other. As Allah said that

“And if you turn away (from Islam and the obedience to Allah), He will exchange you for some other people and they will not be your like.” (Muhammad:38)

Moreover, we have to lean exactly every way to work for Islam and grow a new generation subsequently. We have to create a new model activity to convince people to follow Islamic way deeply. We have to disagree, protest, and fight with Islam destroyer in every way.

4. Amanah to ourselves

Although Muslim got many things to do, we have to keep ourselves from the harm things and make our health bad. Allah said

"And do not throw yourselves into destruction (by not spending your wealth in the Cause of Allah), and do good. Truly, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers)". (Baqarah:195)

5.Amanah to society

Amanah is not only for ourselves but it is for society too. In generally, In every position every level there are amanah themselves. But Amanah in each level and position are different. It depends on level. For example let compare between security and police which one have to get more amanah? Or lecturer and dean?
Amanah to Society can be divided into two way.

1. Amanah of leader
We have to follow the leader as we follow Allah and Prophet according to principle of Islam. If a leader does not follow principle of Islam and protest Islam then, so he can not be obeyed by society.

2.Amanah to personal

It is manner that is glorified. Allah says:

“Verily, Allah commands that you should render back the trusts to those to whom they are due. “ (Al-nisa:58)

Although the people whom we deal with are not Muslim, we have to keep amanah. Cause Amanah is manner of Muslim. As prophet said:

"No Iman for who does not have Amanah. No religion for who does not keep promise."
